Accessibility Schemes
The National Accessibility Scheme (NAS) is a scheme that states the level of facilities available to the traveller with a disability. The assessment can be carried out by two organisations approved by VisitBritain, these are Quality in Tourism and a National Charitable Tourist Organisation, such as Holiday Care/Tourism For All. Quality in Tourism can also assess for quality ratings as well as accessibility.
Accessible schemes have been developed throughout the UK by VisitBritain, the National Tourist Boards and the relevant disability organisations in conjunction with Holiday Care.
They are designed to provide reliable information on standards and facilities to travellers with disabilities identifying the differing levels of facilities provided for guests with visual, hearing and mobility impairment. Properties displaying one of the following symbols have been inspected under this Scheme launched in 2002.
